DAY 5 - 7 JULY: CIN ART MUSEUM, SKYLINE CHILI, and the OPEN COMPETITION AWARDS CEREMONY

After 4 busy days, we came across a bit of free time. Our Singers relaxed in the Intl Choir Lounge, swam in the hotel’s rooftop pool, and rested at the hotel. After our last WCG lunch in the monstrous cafeteria, we went to the Cincinnati Art Museum to see their musical instruments exhibit put together especially for the Games. The afternoon ended with a great trip to Skyline Chili and Graeter’s Ice Cream near CIN Conservatory of Music for dinner and then getting ready for the Awards Ceremony in US Bank Arena.

It was utterly unnerving to wait for our 2 categories – Choirs of Equal Voices and Folklore. They announced each score from the bottom up and awarded bronze, silver, and gold diplomas in the Open Competition. Our Young Women’s Choir received a GOLD diploma with the third highest score and will be able to compete in the Champions category without a qualifying performance as a result!! Our fantastic Folk Ensemble received a SILVER diploma and placed 7th out of 15 in the Open Competition- an outstanding result in a category with 61 groups of mostly adults and the top score for an American group in the Open Competition for Folk!!

Today was our last official day at the World Choir Games. So sad to see it over, and so proud of our award-winning performances here. Heading back to ATL tomorrow in our comfort buses, with wonderful memories and very proud Singers and staff!
